Gestalt Logo

Many of us see this logo every day, but have we really asked ourselves how we KNOW it's a peacock? This image - blown up on billboards and shrunk down on TV screens - is incredibly recognizable, and that is because this logo employs an important Gestalt principle: Our mind automatically fills in the white space and recognizes it as a peacock.  The use of white space is key in this logo - both subtle and creative. The thin lines between the colors represent the "feathers" of the peacock and emphasized the boldness of the colors against the white, which your mind instantly associates with NBC.  There's no need for text, and that's a good logo.
